About ASD
Action for Social Development (ASD) is a non-government, non-profit and non-political development organization. It was established in 1988 by a group of NGO professionals and social workers to address the socio-economic problems of low income groups of people living in slum areas of Dhaka City. With the gradual emerging development need, ASD extended its programme activities to address the needs of the rural poor with a focus on remote and hard to reach areas. Following subsequent strategic needs ASD in 2015 changed its name to become known as Action for Social Development. With nearly three decades of programme implementation experience, ASD has been successful in diversifying its development interventions and developed capacity in implementing large projects alone and also in partnership. Projects that deserve worth naming include SHOUHARDO, FSUP-H, Community Legal Service (CLS), BEHTRUWC, PCAR, and Development of Children at High Risk (DCHR). For more than a decade it has been actively engaged in different initiatives for the elimination of child labour and realization of child rights
